A beautifully formatted page on a domain with no topical depth still won't get cited.

Before rewriting anything, it helps to sort existing content into three buckets:

  1. Ranks well, informational intent, thin structure. These are your highest-leverage rewrites — restructure with an answer-first opening, tighten section length to the 120–180 word range, add a comparison table if the topic supports one, and add a visible "last updated" date.
  2. Ranks well, but the topic is commercial or transactional. Lower priority for AIO structuring specifically, since transactional and navigational queries trigger AI Overviews far less often than informational ones. Keep focus on conversion and page experience here.
  3. Doesn't rank in the top 20 for its target topic. Structural fixes won't help yet. This needs an authority and topical-depth problem solved first — the citation layer comes after, not instead of.
